New Baby Lips lip balm from Maybelline New York gives intense care and 8 hour hydration, and is nourishing for baby soft lips. Its clinically tested formula has a hint of colour and leaves lips feeling softer and smoother.
The shades I am reviewing today are : Cherry me and peppermint! The packaging of the baby lips is plastic, but it feels not too flimsy, so you could drop it into your handbag and not have to worry about it cracking! Its colourful and vibrant, which is a bit different from your standard balm! The actual product is in a bullet shape, which I prefer to a tinned balm.
Cherry me is a lovely red shade, but when applied to the lips, its more a coral shade, which I adore! Cherry me gives a shear wash of colour, which looks subtle and is perfect for when you want a little bit of colour on the lips, but don't want to wear a heavy lipstick or sticky gloss. The scent of this balm is the 'fake' cherry smell, which I'm not a fan of, however, this scent isn't overly sweet, or sickly, which is a nice change! What surprised me the most about this balm, is how easy it glides onto the lips, melting almost instantly into a rich, hydrating layer of moisture. I thought the balm would tug, and leave my lips feeling waxy, but it didn't do that in the slightest!
Peppermint is a clear shade, which gives no colour pay off, but is perfect for applying under a drying lipstick, or just on its own! The scent of this balm is a gorgeous mint, however, its not your regular chewing gum scent, that most mint products smell of. Its more of a 'real' smell, like when you pick mint out of your garden. It tingles a little when applied, but this dies down after a few minutes. Peppermint also glides onto the lips beautifully, just like cherry me.
The baby lips are very nourishing, however they don't give 8 hours of hydration, its much more like 3-4 hours, is more than my regular body shop balms, which is a nice surprise! I would defiantly recommend these to anyone who wants a hydrating balm, with the added extra of a tint! I'm planning on buying the shade 'pink punch' and 'grape vine,' next time I am in my local Boots or Superdrug!
